I just made a forum post about a potential ratings revision. Given that you actually use the ratings, I thought that you might be interested in reading and/or commenting on the forum post. If you haven't seen it already, it can be found here: (link) Thanks in advance for any feedback!
Hi! Just wanted to let you know that Earth (Continuum 1) has been added to the new RMR map. Also, now that there is indeed a map and the realms on it have definite sizes, I thought it would be good to ask if you wanted to reconsider the size of Earth (Continuum 1).
You may notice from looking at the new RMR map that Continuum 1 appears simply as a wedge in one corner. That's because, for map purposes, I assumed that your realm is a sphere 7950 miles in diameter (the size of our Earth with 16 miles of atmosphere, which would probably enough to fit Regna Caelorum, She'ol, and any other orbiting sub-realms). However, given that I had to make that assumption, and that that assumption both 1) makes Continuum 1 quite large compared to the other realms here (Greater Steam City, for example, is 50 miles in diameter) and 2) assumes a certain atmosphere size that may not be enough for you, I wanted to let you know about all this so you can make it larger, smaller, redistribute components, etc. If and when you do do that, please let me know, and I'll adjust the size of Continuum 1 on the map to fit.
Update: Aside from the size of the realm, you might also want to consider whether the realm should have some magical rule that shrinks all things inside it to, say, a 50th of the size that one would expect. This wouldn't affect the realm's inhabitants, but rather the outer shell of the realm in relation to other realms, making it easier for realms to work around Continuum 1 and all be around the same size. If you would be interested in such a realm-size-shrink, please let me know!
Hi! I had two (hopefully quick) questions for you:
Should the Jade Family page be in the "Characters" section of the top-navigation bar or in some separate, new, "Other" or "Miscellaneous" section?
What does Earth (Continuum 1) use to take the place of our Earth's moon and sun? Does it use a light-emitting sky like most (if not all) of my realms have; does it have some small bodies orbiting it in some space between the planet and the realm walls; or something else?
If you have any answers for these questions, please let me know.
1. Put it in a "Families" or "Bloodlines" subsection in Earth (Continuum 1)'s section. This is so it doesn't get confused with other pages.
2. Earth (Continuum 1) has Regna Caelorum and She'ol orbiting it, representing night and day. The moon is Regna Caelorum's presence affecting She'ol.
If you've seen my Earth (Continuum 1) page, it is heavily influenced by Christianity.
I can't actually do that, as Earth (Continuum 1) is at a header level where it can't have sub-headers. However, I could make a Groups section under articles for the Jade Family and for some other group articles that I've been meaning to make for a while. Would that work, or should we do something else?
Makes sense. My only question now on this is: How would the corridor from the Dual-Vortex Realm interact with the fact that there would be this space around Earth; namely, would it simply drop people into space, where they'd fall to Earth; would it have an extension leading to the planet's surface, with this extension being avoided by Regna Caelorum and She'ol; or something else?
1. Yes, thank you.
2. The extension would go into the planet's surface, making anyone entering Earth (Continuum 1) simply pop in. The corridor would be invisible and only souls and people from outside the realm could feel it and interact with it. The corridor would make people appear in the city of Raleigh, North Carolina.
Sounds cool! I do have another question about this now, which is: If only souls and outsuders can interact with the corridor, does that mean that no one from Earth can leave the Realm, or did you mean something else that I'm not seeing?
No one can leave the realm, as Unus Sanctus wanted to keep the inhabitants of Earth in his protection. Demons count as "living beings" by the corridor, and are rendered so weak, they might well be dead.
Interesting. So people from elsewhere can get in and out again, but natives can't...and, if the outsiders have kids in the realm, the kids can't...This must open up a whole set of political quandaries that I'll have to think more on.
I now have another set of questions:
What demons are you talking about that are rendered weak in whatever circumstances you're talking about?
Would Unus Sanctus let anyone out of the realm if there seemed to him that there was some really important reason for said people to be let out? (I don't have such a reason in mind; I'm just curious.)
How does Unus Sanctus keep natives from getting out of the realm? Does he have a barrier in front of the corridor that only lets through outsiders, does he kill any natives who try to leave, or something else? (I figure it's Unus Sanctus doing this, not a condition of the DVR-Continuum 1 corridor, corridors are inherently non-magical.)
That explains why Unus Sanctus has this attitude towards demons. I'm still left wondering, though, what exactly "demons" are in this context. Are these demons beings that are particularly evil? Have some particular powerset? Are some particular type, or types, of creatures? All of the above? Knowing what count as demons in this context woukd be very useful to know.
Makes sense. I am now very curious as to what this "grander evil" is, though. While I don't question its existence, it would be good to know if it's an evil god, some aggregation of beings, some power, some sub-realms, etc.
Makes sense. I do wonder now, though, how the corridor and its extension into the realm would handle gravity. I assume that Earth would have gravity pointing towards its center, while the Dual-Vortex Realm has gravity pointing towards its objective bottom (which is not pointed directly towards Earth), so I'm not sure how the in-between gravity would handle all this. Do you have any suggestions? If not, I can work something out, but I'd be happy to hear some ideas of yours if you have any on this subject.
So essentially, Unus Sanctus kills any evils that try to escape the realm?
Ah. So it's one of these eternal battles between good and evil. Makes sense.
I'm not exactly sure what you meant by that. Let me clear something up before we work this out: The corridor—i.e. the thing that connects the two realms—is strictly non-magical by definition; all of these realm-connecting corridors are and must be. The extension into the Continuum 1 realm can be as magical or non-magical as you like, so you could, say, have something where standing in a certain place instantly teleports you to the entrance to the corridor, have a tube that orients gravity correctly to push you into the corridor or guide your exit from the corridor, etc. What I'm trying to figure out is twofold: What gravity this purely non-magical corridor would have, and what rules its extension into the realm would go by. (I'm also trying to figure out how this connects to your earlier idea that Divinium—which I'm not exactly clear on the nature of—would be required to enter the corridor, so if you could clear that up too, that would be good.)
Just a bit of a bump to remind you that I) I asked you a few questions here (not to push you, just to let you know in case this got buried in your email or something) and II) just in case you haven't seen, you have a few messages from me higher up on your wall. If you know all this, no rush; just wanted you to know in case you didn't.
So both the corridor and its extension into the realm have unusual gravity depending on the intentions of the person entering the corridor? That doesn't really work what with the corridor being strictly non-magical, so it kind of has to have fixed gravity...Am I missing something?
Hi ImaginationRules, and welcome back to the wiki! :)
While you were gone, it had occurred to me that it could be really cool for Earth (Continuum 1) to be connected to my Dual-Vortex Realm (specifically, the DVR's Heaven) via some long Corridor (long in order to allow more small Realms to be placed in-between your Realm and mine, i.e. lacing around the corridor). This connection between the DVR and Continuum 1 could help generally bind the Holy aspect of Continuum 1's connection (Divinium, etc.) to its connection to my realms, which could make for interesting tie-ins. However, as the Continuum 1 realm is yours, I didn't want to simply implement the change without getting your permission to do so first. Do you think that it would be a good idea to connect these Realms this way? (If not, please let me know why so we can see if there's anything to work out or plan for the future.)
OK, I'm not exactly sure if we're both on the same page here, so let me explain what I was thinking that was the background for all this.
If I recall correctly, we both had a conversation some months ago where we were talking about connecting one of your Realms (I think Earth (Continuum 1)) to an as-yet undecided one of mine, and you'd stated that the corridor from your Realm whatever Realm yours was connected to would have to have a door on each end that could only be opened by Divinium or a similar holy reagent of some variety.
That was what I was going by when I suggested all this. If that's not what you were thinking, please let me know. If it is, I'd like if you could try to explain what it is that you want me to do or not do with all this, because I'm having a hard time figuring out if you're fine with my plan, if you're grudgingly accepting, or something entirely different.
