Can't wait for any spooky stories anyone has for the month of October.
There should be an "Expected Rating" in any unfinished article that had no edits in 24 hours.
I was thinking about making a trade realm, basically, where all the people in the realms gather and trade stuff. I want to call it the Dimensional Stock Exchange, but if y'all have a better name, that's fine.
I know, probably no one cares about the ratings, but for those who do (mostly looking at you, ImaginationRules), I have two suggestions for a ratings revision that I wanted to float by everyone before just implementing them.
Suggestion 1: I've noticed that the Substance and Suggestive descriptors only have different levels for how harsh a given instance is, without the customary descriptors for how frequently such instances occur. Since I find a good deal of value in having such frequency descriptors, I'd like to add them to these two varieties of rating descriptors. This brings up two questions, though:
1.1: The rating for frequent occurrences of the highest Suggestive descriptor would tend to be at a rating higher, but there isn't one higher than X (which is what the highest Suggestive rating is already at). Should I just toss the highest frequent one in at X as well, or should I make a special denomination for things with this new highest descriptor?
1.2: Is it OK with everyone if I toss in these frequency descriptors (including this new highest one that might or might not deserve a (currently sui generis) new rating)?
Suggestion 2: I've noticed a discrepancy in the Violence descriptors, whereby certain small amounts of "Realistic" violence would probably fit within the second-lowest rating, while larger amounts of "Fantasy" violence would probably only fit within the third-lowest rating. As such, I'd like to rename the Violence descriptors so that they're all on one scale (Violence) instead of being on two separate scales (Fantasy Violence and Realistic Violence). However, besides just wanting to float this by people, I also need a bit of help in the nomenclature; I generally have no more than three ranks of a given thing, where I use Light, Moderate, and Harsh for occurrences, using for frequent occurrences Frequent Light, Frequent, and Extreme, respectively. This is all well and good, but for four descriptors of the same-named thing, where I'd probably want to have a rank below Light (e.g. Very Light or something of the sort), I'm not sure what I'd use as a frequent version of that. Frequent Very Light? Slight? I'm having trouble. This makes two questions here:
2.1: What should I call this Frequent thing for Very Light?; and
2.2: Is it OK with everyone if I rename these descriptors thusly?
If anyone can answer any of my 4 questions (1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2), that would be greatly appreciated. If not, I'll just do what I think best, but feedback would be nice if anyone has any.
Thanks in advance for any feedback!
